Applico was contracted by Columbia Pictures to help them out with a problem with the production of Grown Ups II. At that time the project represented the largest temporary sound stage to date (drawing seen below). To was a steel structure whose foundation was a series of ISO containers stacked and fastened together. Long story short the Swampscott building inspector would not give them an occupancy permit because they cut doors into the ISO containers. Applico was contracted to do the FEA analysis and reporting to the building inspector on the structure. The analysis and reporting was enough to help them get the permit they needed and production of the film continued. As an added benefit I got to take my family on a tour of the sound stage. Inside was the sound stage for Adam Sandler’s back yard.
